About us (Hybrid Nanomaterial Interfaces Laboratory, 하이브리드 나노 계면 소재 연구실)

Our research group focuses on developing high-performance energy devices using new materials with practical and industrial applications in mind. The structure of materials plays a crucial role in driving innovation across various fields. Our work spans multiple disciplines including the synthesis of new materials, structure control, investigation of interface phenomena, separation science, determination of crystal structures, and scaling up. Above all, our goal is to provide support and training to individuals seeking solutions for sustainable human life through hands-on experience in our lab.

We are looking for graduate students, who will conduct research for the new 2D materials synthesis (carbon, MOFs, and zeolite), membrane applications (water treatment, battery separator, and gas separations), and functional thin film fabrication for energy and environmental applications (Electrolysis and fuel cell applications). Development of large-area functionalized MoS2 membrane and its application in gas separation. Published in the Journal of Membrane Science [IF: 8.4], a leading journal in the field of separation membranes.
Development of high-loading micro-Si anode with oxidation-controlled carbon nanotube for LiB in the industrial level, published in the Chemical Engineering Journal [IF: 13.3].
Development of large-area graphene nanoribbon and carbon nanotube composite membranes and their application in high-performance organic solvent nanofiltration membranes. Published in the Journal of Membrane Science [IF: 8.4], a leading journal in the field of separation membranes.
Development of high-performance gas sensors using ZIF film surface oxidation, published in the top-ranked journal Advanced Materials [IF: 29.4].

Prof. Kim was selected as the Rising Star in Environmental Science by ACS Environmental Au (2024).
MOF-based gas sensor is selected as one of the top 100 national research and development excellence achievements in 2024.
Prof. Dae Woo Kim won the 'Young Engineering Educator Award in 2024 from the Korean Society for Engineering Education.
Prof. Dae Woo Kim has been selected to the Editorial Board of the Journal Applied Materials Today [IF: 8.3].
Prof. Dae Woo Kim was elected as one of the Next Generation Scientists for 2023 by ACS Materials Au.
Prof. Dae Woo Kim was elected as Young Member of Korean Academy of Science and Technology (Y-KAST).
